For a one-day music video, book grip equipment rentals that match your shot list and location: enough stands, flags and nets to shape light, a dolly that fits the space, rigging for any overhead work, and plenty of sandbags. Send your rental house the shot list and location photos early, and lock in your package before shoot day so nothing gets left to chance.
At Tiki Grip and Electric, we rent grip and lighting gear to crews across Orlando from our shop on East South Street. To start your order, reach out to our team or call (407) 491-0268.
What grip equipment does a one-day music video usually need?
Most music video shoots need the core of a grip package: C-stands with arms and grip heads, combo and riser stands, flags and nets, frames, apple boxes, sandbags, and clamps. From there, your shots decide what else goes on the truck.
Our 4 Ton G&E truck carries that foundation. The grip package includes 12 40-inch C-stands, two 20-inch C-stands with sliding legs, triple and double riser combos, low boy combos, Beefy Baby stands, frame corners, gel frames, full and half apples, quarters, pancakes, 15 35-pound sandbags, and 15 20-pound shotbags.
Rigging hardware is in there too, including Cardellini jaws, Big Bite Babies, C-clamps, and spring clamps, plus carts, ladders, safety cones, and furniture blankets.
Truck rates start at $600 per day plus $1.10 per mile, or $900 per day with grip support. See the full list on our grip equipment rentals page.
Which flags, nets, and dollies should be on your checklist?
Flags, nets, and silks shape and soften light, and on a music video you will use them constantly. Plan for a mix of solids to cut light, nets to reduce it, and silks to soften it, in sizes that fit your frame.
We rent 6X, 8X, and 12X bounces and silks, from about $30 for a 6X solid to $85 for a 12X digital green or blue. Wag flags in 6 and 8 foot sizes are $10 each, and an 8X camo net is $45. Outdoor shoots in Orlando often need bigger silks to tame harsh midday sun.
Movement is where music videos come alive. A Dana Dolly with slider stands and 4, 6, and 8 foot rails rents for $125. A doorway dolly is available on request for $75, and mombo combos are $40.
Match the dolly to the move and the floor. A slider works for smooth, short pushes on uneven ground, while a doorway dolly handles longer, wider moves on flat floors.
How do you match a grip package to your shot list and location?
Start with the shot list, then check every location detail that could change the gear: doorway widths, ceiling heights, floor surfaces, stairs, available power, and anything that cannot be moved.
A director and producer once showed us a moving shot they wanted for a music video, along with photos of the location. It was more complicated than it looked. There was a narrow doorway and furniture that could not be moved.
Having that information before we finished the gear order made all the difference. It meant the package fit the actual space, not just the idea of the shot.
Orlando locations vary a lot, from downtown rooftops and warehouse spaces to homes and outdoor parks. Outdoors, plan for wind and summer storms, which means more sandbags and a plan for covering gear. Indoors, check power. Our trucks carry 60 and 100 amp Bates cable, Edison cable, and a 100 amp lunchbox, and we rent EcoFlow and Honda generators.
Why does reserving grip equipment early prevent shoot-day scrambles?
Because a one-day shoot leaves no room for missing gear. If a dolly, silk, or generator is already booked when you call the night before, the shot may not happen.
Reserving early locks in your package and gives the rental house time to review your shot list, ask questions, and suggest anything you might have missed. It also gives you time to sort out paperwork before the week of the shoot.
Every rental requires a Certificate of Insurance and a signed rental agreement, and the truck can only go out with a Tiki G&E approved driver. Getting those handled in advance keeps your call time on schedule.
Early booking also makes it easier to build the right package without compromises. Instead of renting whatever is left, you get the gear your DP and gaffer actually want for the shots you planned.
How can lighting round out your grip order?
Booking lighting and grip from the same house keeps the order simple and makes sure everything works together, from stands and rigging to fixtures and power.
Our lighting inventory includes the ARRI Skypanel S60, an Arri M18, an 800 Joker, a Vortex8, Astra 6X panels, NanLite PavoTube II tubes, Quasar X Fade tubes, ETC Source 4 Lekos, and tungsten Fresnels from 300W to 2K. Anton Bauer batteries and chargers are available too. Explore our full lighting inventory.
Tubes and RGB fixtures are popular for music videos, since they add color and can work as practicals in the frame. Pairing them with the right flags and frames gives your DP full control over the look.
